A few weeks ago I was contacted by Unsplash Founder Luke Chesser about this photo that I submitted to Unsplash early in 2015. I was so humbled to read "First off, thanks for being a part of Unsplash for so long! Your shot of the Empire State Building is one of my favourite shots ever submitted to Unsplash." and to later speak with him and learn that he had used the photo as his desktop wallpaper for months!
Anyway, the purpose of the email was to invite me to take part in a panel with Apple, yes, THE Apple, at their SoHo store with two fellow photographers – Mike Petrucci and NTYSIX. During a 1.5 hour Q&A, we divulged our post-processing secrets and engaged in conversation with audience members from all levels of experience in our practiced field.
Despite my intense stage fright and incredible yearning to vomit beforehand, my friends tell me I did well, which I will kindly take.
About the photo itself: I captured it from the TechStars office in the Times Square/Bryant Park area while I was employed with them as a "design star" in late 2014. Alone in a conference room 24 floors above the streets, this photo embraced everything that was beautiful about my life at the time.
According to my stats on Unsplash, the photo has been downloaded 41,000 times since its posting in April. To view more of my photos on Unsplash, visit my page here.
